Ants Have Taken Over My Kitchen

Dear ants inhabiting my kitchen,

Seriously...could you leave, already? I mean come on. I understand that there's good stuff on the countertops sometimes and dirty dishes in the sink callin' your name and all. But still.

Don't you read the internet? There are pages upon pages of tips on how to get rid of you. I have followed all of that advice and none of it is working. I've tried to give you little "ant motels" to hang out in. Were they not decorated cute enough, or something?

From what I understand, you don't like to cross over a line of chalk or a sprinkling of baby powder. Do you realize that it is not fun having baby powder sprinkled all over my kitchen? Although, baby powder is preferable to having you all over the counters.

We've caulked up the spots you use as your special "doors" and bought the nice expensive Terro stuff the internet promises will make you leave us alone. What is with you anyway? Just go away!

I'm seriously too discusted to cook in my kitchen right now and my family menus and budgets are suffering.

Windex kills you right on the spot and I've got plenty of it, but I'm pretty sick of cleaning up trails of your carcasses all over my kitchen. Just eat that sweet smellin' stuff and leave us alone. You have really overstayed your welcome.

9 love notes to me!:

Almost everything in my house is organic or natural, but ant killer is the one toxic thing I can't live without. Nothing else works.

Take it from one who knows: pay to have an exterminator in. It will be the best money you ever spend! We lived in an older home near a large ant hill, and they were even coming into the dishwasher from outside!!

By the way, stop by if you have a chance...I'm hosting a "perfectly imperfect" week, and I'd love you to participate!!

Have a great week!
Linda

oh honey I feel your pain. Windex is a wonder isn't it - I had a shiny shiny sink for at least two weeks last year as we battled the little buggars. AMDRO worked for us, and it doesn't stink - the ortho stuff literally smells like doggy poo. We used the Amdro around the perimeter of the house (kick those stupid ant beds after applying - it just makes you feel better) and it worked (after the second round.

Good luck!

Ants are so annoying! They usually bug us during the summer. Luckily it's winter now though.

Hope you get rid of the intruders soon!

Ahhhhh! I hate ants. We had that exact same problem last summer. We tried everything too and nothing worked. We finally called Terminix and VOILA!!! They were gone. We have lots of creepy crawlies around here since we have so many trees so we signed up for the quarterly service. It's @ $300 for the whole year. (I know there are so many other things I'd rather do with $300, but it's been worth it.)

P.S. Hilarious post though. I love how you are talking directly to the ants. haha!

P.P.S. You'll have to check out my Wordless Wednesday later....

Oh my, I have SO been there.

I had the same issues late spring and even blogged about it myself. It just made my skin crawl.

I bought this stuff that stops them from getting in for 4 months and even works when you wash your floors/counters and doesn't need reapplying. I loved it.

The bad news is I'm in England so that info is of no use to you.

I hope you are able to get rid of them soon.
